About the Role
Sellers Dorsey is seeking a Front-End Engineer for the Data & Engineering team. As a Front-End Engineer you will help architect, implement designs, and build the web applications and user interfaces that power our suite of products. You’ll work closely with back-end developers, product managers, and designers to ensure performant, accessible, and intuitive experiences that provide a quality experience while adhering to healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, document, create, and deploy maintainable web applications, via React, for internal and external facing products. Develop reusable components, hooks, services; use top tier state management libraries, to ensure a smooth, performant, and friendly user experience for our clients.
Consume and integrate with back-end APIs, third-party services, logging, and telemetry tooling to surface clinical information and display in the UI.Implement client-side security and compliance protocols that align or exceed healthcare standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (back-end developers, DevOps, QA engineers, UX/UI designers) to align on API contracts (payloads, data structures, validation), and translate design specs into accessible, stable, production-ready applications.
Ensure applications provide a high-quality user experience. Application reliability, solid test coverage, clear documentation, and maintainable code are your forte. You must be able to work with various state management libraries, implement proven patterns for data management, build robust components, extend component libraries, and be forward thinking as best practices change.
Actively participate in code reviews, dependency audits, and agile methodologies (planning, refinement, retrospectives). Understand best practices for frontend apps, such as unidirectional data flow, composition over inheritance, anti-patterns, monitoring cross-browser issues, optimize builds for client-side performance, troubleshoot and debug cross-browser issues, balance bundle size with rendering performance, leverage CI/CD to ensure smooth deployments, and work closely with DevOps and back-end engineers to assist and diagnose issues together.
Key Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Information Systems, or related field.
Three (3)+ years of front-end development experience building production React applications, and an understanding of back-end/API operations in that context (preferably in healthcare or regulated industries).
Comfort contributing across the stack when needed; this role is frontend-focused with full-stack scope preferred.
Understanding of LLMs, and harnesses such as Claude Code or Codex, and how they handle workflows (agents, skills, etc…) to improve productivity preferred.
Previous experience in healthcare tech preferred.
Awareness of cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP) preferred.
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment preferred.
Passion for improving healthcare outcomes through technology preferred.
Ability to thrive in a collaborative, agile environment preferred.
Critical Professional related Technical Skills
Solid understanding of component architecture, state management, and responsive/accessible UI/UX design implementation.
Well versed in React and JavaScript, and familiar with Python; proficient with modern HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (ES6+).
Thorough understanding of reusable components and the distinct roles of layout components, page-level components, and shared/presentational components.
Strong working knowledge of low-level JavaScript: closures, prototypal inheritance, arrow functions and lexical “this” binding.
Thorough understanding of Node.js and JavaScript package management (npm, yarn, or pnpm), including dependency resolution, lockfiles, and workspace/monorepo patterns.
Familiarity with global state management for frontend applications (e.g., Redux, Zustand) and modern styling approaches (e.g., Tailwind, CSS-in-JS, CSS Modules).
Familiarity with a modern build tool (Vite, Webpack, or ESBuild) for bundling and shipping applications to the browser.
Understanding of unit testing with Jest and component/integration testing using libraries such as React Testing Library.
Understanding of frontend deployment to the cloud via CI/CD (GitHub Actions or equivalent).
Understanding of micro-frontend architecture and general awareness of microservices and how the frontend integrates with them.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Passion for learning, software, security, and new things.
Taking ownership of products and a desire to collaborate.
Familiarity with Playwright for end-to-end testing is a plus.
Deeper understanding of the practical differences between promises and async/await is a significant plus.
Compensation & Benefits
The anticipated salary range for candidates is $95,800/year in our lowest geographic market range to up to $140,000/year in our highest geographic market range. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry, the candidate’s education, and the candidate’s market location. Typically, candidates are not hired near the top of the range and compensation decisions are made based upon Sellers Dorsey’s Total Compensation Policies & Guidelines. The successful candidate will also be eligible to participate in our annual Corporate Incentive Plan (CIP) that can range to up to 9% of annual salary.
Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, the successful candidate (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, and vision and for insurance plans offering short term disability, long term disability, and basic life. Employees are also able to enroll in Sellers Dorsey’s 401k plan provided they meet plan requirements. Sellers Dorsey offers a Flexible Time Off that allows employees to use what they need.
