About the Role
Sellers Dorsey is seeking a Senior Consultant who will provide client consulting services including providing objective advice, expertise and specialized skills in the area of Medicaid financing and healthcare policy. As the Senior Consultant, you will manage a portfolio that involves financial and policy initiatives connected to supplemental payment projects contained within the Southeast portfolio. You will provide project management services to client teams and are responsible for direct service delivery and client satisfaction for large, complex, multi-year initiatives. You support the Director(s), Associate Director(s) and guides Consultant(s) through the project phases and client engagements. Team management will include setting goals, timelines, and guiding the discussion on strategies related to projects and problem solving with project leaders.
This role requires approximately 10–15% travel, primarily for client meetings.
Key Responsibilities
Perform assigned and agreed upon project tasks, including managing financial tracker, action items, and project timelines while maintaining client satisfaction through proactive project management; takes ownership of work and produces “client-ready” deliverables with minimal supervision.
As assigned by a Director/Associate Director, may serve as a key client contact to respond to questions, provide required communications and be responsible for a successful client engagement.
Manage strategic approach outlined by project team and ongoing implementation of projects.
Generate sound solutions that meet client needs.
Write various documents to contextualize technical information into understandable narratives.
Depending upon specific areas of expertise, assume increasing levels of responsibility on a diverse range of projects and project tasks; develop consulting expertise that can be replicated in future projects.
Anticipate, escalate and propose solutions for service, quality or risk issues.
Prepare for and lead/participate in both internal team and external client meetings.
Work with Directors, Associate Directors and Consultants concurrently and manage time effectively.
Work with SMEs to understand technical and political components of project.
Direct client questions and requests to full team and/or individual team members as appropriate.
Set project timelines and hold team members accountable for their contributions.
Prepare authorizing documentation required by state and federal partners encapsulate information necessary for ultimate program approval; prepare related responses for state and federal partners.
Work with technical team so that all policy decisions are incorporated within any technical or financial documentation.
Maintain and organize client deliverables and project timelines in an accessible shared drive for all team members.
Proactively manage outcomes and anticipate client needs.
Additional Responsibilities
Achieve personal performance goals across multiple projects and clients.
Mentor and onboard new Consultants and Associates.
Develop relationships/mentorships with staff across the firm.
In coordination with the marketing team, produce and review content for selected internal and external marketing tools, such as Firm newsletters, conference presentations, website content, and marketing webinars to highlight the Firm's capabilities, subject matter expertise and successes.
Key Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Health Administration, Business, Finance, Economics or a related discipline. Advanced degree in Health Administration or Business Administration preferred.
5-7 years of progressively responsible work experience is required, preferably in business, finance, consulting and/or in a healthcare service delivery environment, or 5+ years of post-graduate, progressively responsible work experience in consulting, business, or finance.
Experience working with data sets, reporting, or financial tracking. Experience with stakeholder/client management. Medicaid knowledge a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g. pivot tables, formulas), PowerPoint, and Word.
Other Requirements
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills including ability to produce concise summaries of technical material and develop client deliverables.
Demonstrated secondary research skills including knowledge of major publicly available resources useful to background research for Medicaid and other healthcare programs.
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment.
Highly efficient, flexible, and motivated.
Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and in teams.
Ability to interact professionally with team members and clients.
Detail oriented, with experience organizing and coordinating the work of others. Previous project and task management experience is strongly desired.
Ability to be an active listener in meetings and discussions with clients, strategic partners and fellow employees.
Ability to travel 10-15%.
Compensation & Benefits
The anticipated salary range for candidates is $83,200/year in our lowest geographic market range to up to $105,000/year in our highest geographic market range. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry, the candidate’s education, and the candidate’s market location. Typically, candidates are not hired near the top of the range and compensation decisions are made based upon Sellers Dorsey’s Total Compensation Policies & Guidelines. The successful candidate will also be eligible to participate in our annual Corporate Incentive Plan (CIP) that can range to up to 7% of annual salary.
Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, the successful candidate (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, and vision and for insurance plans offering short term disability, long term disability, and basic life. Employees are also able to enroll in Sellers Dorsey’s 401k plan provided they meet plan requirements. Sellers Dorsey offers a Flexible Time Off that allows employees to use what they need.
